Mix FM collaborates with Ballz Visual Radio

Mix FM has announced a weekday collaboration with internet station Ballz Visual Radio as well as changes in its everyday lineup. Changes are expected to bolster already accelerated listener growth for the Gauteng station.
Mix FM collaborates with Ballz Visual Radio

Ballz Visual Radio will be syndicated on Mix FM weekdays between 3pm and 6pm with an extended show on Fridays until 8pm featuring the Just Plain Gang with Darren Scott, Simon Hill, John Walland and Kate Nokwe. The additional two-hour Friday-night show welcomes popular radio personalities IanF and Sasha Martinengo to Mix FM. The station currently estimates its audience at just under 250 000 listeners through extensive research conducted.

"We are a rapidly growing brand in Joburg," said programme manager David Watts. "Growth has been phenomenal over the past 12 months and we expect the syndication relationship with Ballz Visual Radio to further position Mix FM on the competitive map. The combination of household names and exiting young talent on the station has attracted a growing and loyal group of engaged listeners." Watts added that the growing movement toward Mix FM also assists the station in fulfilling its community mandate. "The bigger the audience, the greater the value of the community service and larger the positive impact we can achieve. This is what community radio is all about."

A perfect marriage between brands

Ballz Visual Radio founder and host of the Just Plain Gang, Darren Scott, said that the decision to collaborate with Mix FM was an easy decision. "This is radio that harks back to the heyday of on-air personality, where over-formatting and carbon copy presenting has not killed the radio star, so to speak. It is this personality-driven mix that attracted us to Mix FM and, I am sure, continues to attract multiple fans. Ballz Visual Radio shares similar values, a perfect marriage between brands."

The weekday Mix FM daytime lineup continues to feature radio legend Tony Blewitt for breakfast, at 9am Roxy Blows takes to the air with Saskia V between 12pm and 3pm. The Just Plain Gang assumes the reins from 3pm to 6pm and Friday nights IanF and Sasha Martinengo host 6pm to 8pm. Weekend daytime shows include Keith Burrows for breakfast, Hein Kaiser for brunch with Olive at lunch and Al Your Pal from 4pm to 7pm.
