Amu is guest star at Public Enemy Joburg gig

South African hip-hop artist Amu will be joining Public Enemy as a special guest for the Johannesburg leg of their Bring The Noize 2010 Tour.

Amu, also known as Amu'Nishn, was one of the originators of SA rap at the turn of the century and was the first rapper to use the vernacular and not be seduced by the Americanisms that so many other SA rappers were embracing. He also founded the group Township Frequency (Amu, Wikid, Nothende and Mr Selwyn).

Amu's latest album, "The Principal", released on 30 October 2010, is a double-CD album for the price of one and contains 30 tracks. The first single, Everything U Need, featuring Mr Selwyn, T'do and Teepee is already on high rotation on most radio stations. Coincidentally, the opening track of the album features a Public Enemy sample.

Public Enemy, known as the godfathers of global hip-hop and pioneers of the genre, have an original line up including Chuck D, Flavour Flav, and the Security of The First World. The group will be not only rocking four nights in concert, but also holding industry workshops to impart their 25 years' experience on the world of SA hip hop.

The shows

* 2 December: Industry and artist workshop - Hush, Rosebank, Joburg
* 3 and 4 December: The Alex, Braamfontein, Joburg
* 7 December: The Assembly, Cape Town
* 8 December: Atmospheer, Lansdowne, Cape Town
