Indian star AR Rahman tours SA

As part of the 150 Year Celebration of the first Indian in South Africa, AR Rahman will be playing to South african audiences at the Sun City Superbowl on 20 November, then the Grand Arena at Grand West, Cape Town on the 24th, and finally the Moses Mabhida Stadium, Durban on 26 November, 2010.

Best known as the man who has redefined contemporary Indian music, AR Rahman came to the world's attention for his work on the score for the Academy Award-winning film Slumdog Millionaire. For his work on the film, he earned two Academy Awards, a Golden Globe, two Grammys and a BAFTA award. He embarked on his world tour in June this year and has already taken his "theatrical experience" to 16 major cities worldwide. The material spans throughout Rahman's career, including songs from Slumdog Millionaire as well as Indian films: Lagaan, Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na, Dil Se, Rang De Basanti and Roja'.

Rahman has sold more than 150 million copies of his work including music from more than 100 film soundtracks and albums across over half a dozen languages.
