Delite gets an A+ for "Singles"

Let me just say from the get-go, I have never reviewed house music before, so therefore it should stand to reason my knowledge of what's good and what's not is very limited at this point in time. In fact I have never found house music appealing and usually get bored on the dancefloor when the DJ starts getting experimental on the decks. I find it monotonous and prefer singing along to a good ol' pop track than swaying my body in a trance-like rhythm trying to feel the beat vibrate in the essence of my soul. That said, Delite's "Singles" has somehow managed to catch me off-guard as I found myself dancing around my bedroom doing my annual spring cleaning.
Delite gets an A+ for "Singles"

I like it, in fact, I like it alot. Metrocom Records certainly have some hot talented young individuals on their books. Each track has a funky, beat that is unique in its sound with the hypnotic voice of Faith pulling you in and at the same time giving you a sort of freeing feeling. This is new age urban house bound to draw people together as today's advances pushes us apart. "Come 2Getha," the second track on the "Singles" album is all about this connectivity needed for the urban soul trying to find itself. It's in this track that the distinct Chicago blues element comes in with the rhythmic saxophone.

Charlie Gordon comes in on "World keeps turning," with such a distinct vocal ability adding to the unique quality of this duo as they complement each other across each track. Every track has a capricious beat and while house may be universal and across the board you will find a distinctly South African or rather African vibe coming through in "Your love" which is one of my favourite tracks off the album. Just when you think it can't get any better, "What you gonna do?" comes at you with a slower more sensual sound but "I Believe (All around the world)" is gonna get you right back up again keeping you dancing all night long. My other favourite tracks on the album are "Mysteries of Love" and "Always" because they're so freshly crisp and distinct from anything I've heard before. You'll also find the "Theme from Metrocom" quite wicked as the magic in the base keeps you bouncing as you feel the music take over your body freeing your soul.

The future is house my friends and this Deliteful duo will certainly take you there with "Singles." If you don't believe me, check it out for yourself. Listen to some of their tracks on their MySpace page.

Congratulations to our Delite competition winners who won a copy of the "Singles" album; you're in for a treat! Enjoy!
