Game On with Captain Stu, Tidal Waves and The Plastics at the Assembly

Captain Stu launched their video arcade game inspired album “The Adventures of Captain Stu” at the Assembly this past Friday with the help of supporting bands the trendy indie, Plastics and the irie afro Tidal Waves. We put on our games faces and ventured forward.

Insert Coin. Begin Game. Players:3.
Your mission: 1. Drink 2. Listen to music 3. Dance.

Level 1: Avoid the crazy queue outside the Assembly by being on media list.
Score : 05 (and a free Captain Stu CD)

Level 2: Locate free drinks using the help of a scary looking bouncer.
Score: 10 (and three Southern Comforts and Cokes)

Level 3: Catch the tail end of The Plastics set. (I am always somewhat surprised by how good The Plastics sound, don't be fooled by their newness on the scene and young boyish faces, this is quite a grown up and professional sounding band)

Score: 15

Level 4: Play a game of foosball (loose, curses)

Score: 10

Level 5: Jump happily around to the “original people, original music ” Tidal Waves

Score: 15

Fail miserably to avoid getting stood on, shoved and beer in hair.

Score: 10

Level 6: Fail to locate more free drinks. (What we have to pay, what's up with that?)

Score: 05

Level 7: Get crazy on the dance floor to Captain Stu. (The Captain Stu boys put on a happy and upbeat show as usual. It's been four years since their first album and seems like the Adventures of Captain Stu was well worth the wait, the music is a mix of afro inspired rock, hip hop and ska and captures that typical infectious fun that the band instils live.)

Score: 10

Level 8: Break it down on the dance floor to classics like “Come on Arlene” and "99 Red Balloons" till the bar closes and lights are switched on.

Score: 15

Mission Complete. GAME OVER.
