The Basha Uhuru Creative Uprising Festival is back with music, art and more

The three-day festival, recognised as one of the top festivals in South Africa, will take place from 28 to 30 October and will also be streamed live - showcasing, celebrating and nurturing creative talent.
The 2021 Basha Uhuru Creative Uprising Festival also includes a month of lead-up events that showcase the creative SMEs who have been allocated working studios at Constitution Hill’s Transwerke building, allowing for them to continue to grow their business using a barter system and reduced or no rentals for their workspaces.
Last year’s inaugural Basha Uhuru Creative Uprising Festival was held in a hybrid format accommodating a small physical audience and full live streaming to virtual audiences globally, and this year, the format of the main events will be similar with a limited number of tickets for in-person attendance.
Highlights of this year’s edition include music from artists such as Langa Mavuso, Sun El Musician, Ms Party and MX Blouse, an art showcase by the Nando’s Creative Exchange artists, mosaic workshops, panel discussions as well as art and design collaborations.
The programme highlights of the 2021 Basha Uhuru Creative Uprising Festival include:
28 October 2021
The festival will kick off with a Creative Conference fired up by Nando’s - a full day of creative immersion of panel discussions, workshops and the Nando’s emerging talent showcase.
29 October 2021
The second day of the festival will feature the Eco-System Rising 2021 summit where local and international speakers will present the current Creative Eco-System case studies that contribute to growth, opportunities and livelihoods of creative entrepreneurs and the value chains they engage in.
The conference will also share the opportunities that the Creative Uprising Hub at Constitution Hill has already generated and the ecosystem it aims to build.
30 October 2021
The final day of the festival will start off with a Maker’s Market that will bring together a range of creatives who will have an opportunity to share their products and brands with the public. The market will include food stalls and a family area managed by cutting edge developmental play experts from Play Africa.
The Basha Uhuru Creative Uprising Festival will then conclude with a music festival celebrating the musical talent of some of the country’s best and new artists headlined by Langa Mavuso and Sun El Musician.
