#MusicExchange: Muriel Marco
Marco studied at the University of Cape Town where she completed her BMus degree in composition and arrangement with distinction in Ethnomusicology. During her time at the University she travelled Southern Africa extensively experiencing the traditional and neo traditional local music scene. After finishing her studies, Marco became a freelance keyboardist, bandleader, composer and arranger.
I caught up with her last week to find out more about what music means to her and more…

When are you happiest?
For example: Watching a concert or going to a festival with good friends, walking around after playing at a festival, sitting on a plane ready to take off for a holiday or performance, and having breakfast with my daughter after a good run on the beach.
What does music mean to you?
Who are your heroes?
Nikola Tesla, Che Guevara, Krishnamurti and Freddy Mercury.
It’s your round, what are you drinking?
What would you say makes you stand out?
Nicknames?
If you weren’t a musician, what would you do?
Pick five words to describe yourself?

Can you give us some real proper slang and say what it means?
Boludear – to fool around
Canchero – clever, smart
Una Gauchada – a favour (given as a friend)
What is at the top of your bucket list?
What do you complain about most often?
What is your fear?
Happiness is?
Where would you like to be right now?
