Beating Heart collaborative at Daisies

Superbalist is Rocking the Daisies will host the Beating Heart collaborative, a powerful musical story brought by representatives: Rudimental (DJ Set), My Nu Leng, Kidnap Kid and DJ's and co-founders Chris Pedley and Olly Wood. The festival takes place from 6-9 October 2016 at the Cloof Wine Estate in Darling in the Western Cape.

Beating Heart defined

In 1929, when visionary Hugh Tracey travelled through Africa to record African music, he built up a unique archive over six decades with over 35,000 African music tracks. Almost 90 years later, some of the world’s best global producers and DJs discovered the archive and remixed the beats. The result: an extraordinary, uplifting ensemble rich in ambiance and tone. This is Beating Heart.

The core of the initiative is grounded in collaboration and connection, with a vision of sustainable culture. The sounds connect artists, communities and institutions from all over the globe and will be introduced to Daisies audiences by the UK’s drum and bass group Rudimental (DJ set) alongside the global collective, Beating Heart. Visit the official Beating Heart website. When you buy a Beating Heart remix, you’re generating income to assist people in the areas where the music was originally recorded.

Rudimental will be returning to Daisies since performing hits such as “Free”, “Not Giving In”, “Waiting All Night” and “Lay It On Me” at Daisies and In the City in 2014. Attendees may expect a taste of Rudimental’s unique sound as well as influences from the Beating Heart sound collection.

The UK’s Kidnap Kid is defined by a darker, sleeker dance-floor ready sound. The DJ and record producer will be giving a taste of his unique sound as well as incorporating Beating Heart influences into his set.

Drum and Bass, Dubstep, UK Garage and Grime, My Nu Leng are influenced by a spectrum of underground sounds. My Nu Leng are known for their blistering sets and dark, smoldering vibe, heavy on the mood, but always danceable. They will be playing at the Nu World Beat Club with a mix of their own sound and Beating Heart influences.

Attendees may also expect bass and funk from uk-based former Fabric resident DJ, Ali B, who will be performing at the Caribbean Twist Beach Bar.
