Parker's Comedy & Jive August line-up announced

Top local names, such as Mel Miller, Magic Man, Roni Modimola, and Ndumiso Lindi will share the spotlight and there's a special tribute to Elvis Presley - All The King's Men - on 16 August to remember the 43rd anniversary of The King's death.

American Danny Lobell (5 to 7, 12 to 14 and 19 to 21 August) launched his comedy career eight years ago and has made an impact on all levels of comedy from headlining clubs around the world, to writing for network TV and dabbling in publishing.

He hosts a popular radio show on New York's WBMB 87.9 FM and has played host to some of the best names in the comedy and entertainment business.

The King

Parker's will be celebrating the life and times of The King Of Rock 'n Roll, Elvis Presley, with a unique Elvis Tribute Show - All The King's Men - on Monday, 16 August. Four of the country's top Elvis impersonators: Shaky Russell, Lionel Hunt, Tony de King and Andrea Giglio, will share the stage for a first time to pay tribute to the man who practically invented rock 'n roll, 43 years to the day since his tragic death.

Kevin Bloody Wilson

A cult star in SA for over 25 years, Kevin Bloody Wilson (23 August) earned his following in the 1980s. His earthy lyrics and unashamedly blokey songs might have been banned by straight-laced South African broadcast censors, but were spread like wildfire on countless illegally copied cassettes.

Thanks to this Aussie a generation grew up knowing how to berate Santa Claus for delivering substandard Christmas presents, or how to ask a girl the important questions, like if her dad owns a brewery and if she's, er, fun on first dates. Needless to say, those aren't the words he uses - in fact, it's best that easily offended types are warned about Kevin's language well in advance.

The South African leg of Kevin Bloody Wilson's Excess All Areas World Tour takes in Durban (25 August - Playhouse Opera), Cape Town (26 August - Grandwest's Grand Arena), Johannesburg (27 and 28 August - Carnival City's Big Top), East London, (29 August - Numbers Dance Club), Port Elizabeth (31 August - Opera House), Nelspruit (1 September - Emnotweni Arena) and Pietermaritzburg (3 September - Royal Showgrounds).
