SA's Astral opens chicken unit in Mozambique
According to the Macauhub website, South African chicken farming company Astral Foods opened its first chicken unit in Mozambique's Mozpintos Broiler Hatchery last week, following a similar business launch in Zambia.

The hatchery is located near the Goba dam, in Maputo province, and has an initial production capacity of 158,000 day-old chickens per week.
Group chairman Chris Schutte said the hatchery unit imports eggs from National Chicks, a group unit in South Africa. He added that Mozpintos had three aviaries that would undergo alterations in order to start producing the number of eggs needed for the hatchery to be self-sufficient, the Macauhub website reports.
