Wits student attempts live-in-bakkie record

Third-year Wits University geology student Sibusiso Radebe is currently in a record-breaking attempt to spend eight days in a Nissan NP200 bakkie, shielded from the elements only by the bakkie's canopy.

The Nissan NP200 will be parked for 200 hours on the library lawns of Wits University. Radebe was selected for the record attempt after beating other contestants in an online poll on www.theresident.co.za.

The aspiring record-breaker has only been allowed 10 items to help make his eight-day stay a little bit more bearable. The sponsors were also gracious enough to furnish him with a MacBook Pro to stave off the hours of boredom, which he will be able to keep if he succeeds in the record attempt.

As further incentive, Radebe will also receive a cash prize of R10 000, which he will use to further his hip hop career. For regular video and blog updates log on to www.theresident.co.za.
