Wings & Wheels returns to Ysterplaat

On the shores of the Mother City, on 7 and 8 December 2013, Wings and Wheels will be hosted by Air Force Base Ysterplaat for the second time, this time even bigger and better. South African motorsport events company, D1S, will participate and, together with the South African Air Force, will offer aircraft enthusiasts, petrol heads and families looking for a fun and entertaining day out nothing less than a fantastic display of wings and wheels action over both days.

The event promises to showcase the best of air and land and will feature top pilots as well as athletes from Formula Drift USA, Otto Graven and Red Bull's Brian Capper performing some of the most captivating stunts and tricks in their vehicles.

The wings element of the event will feature a large static display of aircraft, ranging from those flown in days gone by to their more cutting-edge modern contemporaries. Event-goers' eyes will be drawn to the skies as some of these aircraft take to the air with unbelievable aerial displays, fast-paced formation flying and choreographed manoeuvres.

"Wings and Wheels this year brings about an extraordinary thrill, displaying a mix of radical wheels and thundering aircraft to the public," said Colonel Christo Stroebel, Officer Commanding the Base hosting the event. "The excitement and anticipation does not stop at the main displays as the public arena will be bursting with a huge variety of interactive attractions especially targeting our youths. This will be a world-class event catering for the whole family and Air Force Base Ysterplaat is proud to share this excitement, an event not to be missed."

Adrenalin-pumping motoring demonstrations

On the wheels side, D1S will be providing a heady mix of adrenalin-pumping motoring demonstrations, arena displays, static exhibitions and a motoring paddock open to the public in a celebration of all things automotive - a fabulous display from the world of automobile, featuring some of the world's best, beautiful and most extraordinary vehicles. Also present will be rally cars, super cars and, very possibly, Formula One and Le Mans cars.

"D1S strives to develop and implement the most cutting-edge opportunities for motorsport to be showcased. The not-to-be-missed summer event for the whole family, Wings and Wheels, will be an awe inspiring display of power and speed. You will be thrilled to hear the roar of the engines not only on the ground but also in the air," said DJ Ready D, who is the co-founder of D1S.
