Aggregating the best of the noughties (that's like, right now for the outdated) into an online survey, Channel24 - the entertainment hub of 24.com - today revealed who its readers thought was the number one entertainer across a range of categories in its 'Top Ten of the Noughties' survey.
Jean Barker, Channel24.co.za editor says, "The 'Top Ten of the Noughties' survey celebrates the last decade's entertainment highs and lows. From Freshlyground's "Doo bee doo" to Amy Whinehouse's beehive and much-publicised breakdowns, the past 10 years has given us some great memories. Or at least, memorable memories."
The quicky survey, which ran between December 1st and 9th, 2009, invited music and movie fans from all over South Africa to vote for their favourite stars, songs and shows in 11 categories. And the winners are:
"While movies and songs have been around for years, the noughties created its own genre of entertainment: the reality show," says Barker.
"Undoubtedly one of the most popular TV past-times of the last decade, the likes of Survivor and The Amazing Race have had us glued to our couches, and fans even take bets on the winners!"
Yet, despite the success of 24 and Coldplay's top treffer, 2010 is right around the corner. "While its sad to see some of our best entertainers take their place in the noughties hall of fame, you can be assured there is a new set of 'bests' waiting to rock us out in the 20teens (that's the next decade for the uninformed) !" concludes Barker.
