Confetti crazy at Ma'Gate
I am currently sitting in the SABC and Media 24 VIP lounge nursing a burgeoning hangover, but there are yummy little pitas and vodka and coke being served by Matthew Broderick (though he says his name is Ian) so it's not all bad. It's the second day of Loeries and everyone who is everyone in the SA advertising industry has flocked to Margate to drink, party, schmooze, maybe win an award or two oh and make their mama's proud. Though I'm not sure the mothers are going to be proud with some of the goings on here. It is Loeries after all.
Ok so what's happened so far, after arriving early Thursday morning to a pre Loeries party state Margate and getting lost on Tragedy Hill (never a place you want to be lost on) we began the massive task of assembling 2000 confetti cups for Bizcommunity's “Covering the Loeries” campaign. About 11 hours later we were done and our apartment looked like a cheap Vegas wedding chapel.
Work over it was time to explore Margate which is covered in helpful and considerate notes from mom all part of the “Make your mama proud” theme. They're funny for example on the back of a taxi it says “Don't take lifts from strangers-mom” (cute). The Friday evening started off a little slow many people were still arriving but there was a thumping party at Johnnie Rockets and the official welcome party at Backstage. All good practice for the award after parties happening tonight and tomorrow night. Ok enough work for now there are many things to do and Sindy is being very distracting.
