Close call for the Blues
Chelsea found themselves hitting a brick wall at the Stadium of Light as the new target man for Sunderland Darren Bent gave his team lead in the first half. After dusting themselves off from the early shocker, it was all Chelsea. Michael Ballack, Frank Lampard and Deco slotted in the goals to give the North Londoner's the win.
This gave Sunderland a lesson in class, as Chelsea kept their heads up even after conceding early in the first half.
On the flip side Sunderland showed some form of potential at the start of the season. The signing of Darren Bent improved Sunderland's much needed strike force. Chelsea found it hard to take down the defence as the midfield lacked the final finish, when Ballack “ballooned” a perfectly placed ball by Lampard.
There are now approximately 35 games left in the season, that's 35 chances to take the league, 35 chances to qualify for the UEFA and 35 chances to avoid relegation.
But who knows the season is still young, there are some new faces in the Barclays Premier League and some familiar faces trying to make a name.
