If Bafana plays the “backyard football” style like in the days of Jomo Sono and Doctor Khumalo then we will certainly start making ourselves more known in the football world. Joel Santana was spot on last night with his tactics every time Kaka or Robinho had the ball Bafana's defence closed them down. Luis Fabiano was nowhere to be seen. Well done to Brazilian coach Dunga for that late substitution to take off Santos and to bring on the goal scorer Alvez.
I'm starting to feel more and more confident about the level of skill we can achieve come the World Cup. We just need to work on taking advantage of those missed opportunities, like the one that was seen last night when Tshabalala missed a perfect header that would have put Bafana in front. But hey I'm not complaining here we are much improved compared to two years ago. Bafana's game play is smooth and swift all thanks to Joel Santana teaching us the Brazilian style which seems to mesh well with a bit of our own African style.
Last night set us on the world stage in football; were starting to get that recognition we always wanted. Brazil was cruising through the Confed with ease... until they went up against Bafana. We have to keep doing what we doing right now, it may take a year even two years but it won't be too long before South Africa wins a major football event.
