The SAFA DC made a ruling on the evidence that Bruwer's A and B urine samples tested positive.
In another case the SAFA DC has found Lucky Maselesele of Maritzburg United F.C. guilty of misconduct, on the 12th November 2008 in a league match between Maritzburg United and Bidvest Wits F.C.; Maselesele tested positive to a prohibited substance known and described as benzoylecgonine, a metabolite of cocaine.
The SAFA DC found Maselesele guilty of transgressing the FIFA Doping Control Regulations; he is suspended for two years from football and he has been ordered to pay the cost of the first hearing which amount will be determined by SAFA.
SAFA CEO Raymond Hack says the fundamental aims of doping control are set out in the Preamble of the FIFA Doping Control Regulations, commenting on the outcome of the two cases, Hack says; “the fundamental aims of doping control are threefold: to uphold and preserve the ethics of sport, to safeguard the physical health and mental integrity of players; and to ensure that all competitors have an equal chance, the Association will continue to be vigilant in ensuring that the principle of Fair Play prevails in the Sport we all love”.
