Queer as Folk
It's usually an excuse for grown men to wear gold speedos in public. In fact, it's not a gay party per se - the Queer in the title embraces anyone who thinks a little differently, which in Cape Town is a lot of folks- and the crowd reflects all colours, ages, sexes and sexualities. The Convention Centre as a venue? Not my best, with its high ceilings and vast halls, it's not the obvious choice for the bacchanalian antics of an MCQP ...
Still, six dance floors, great sound, great DJs, efficient bar staff, ample parking and, above all, a convivial, friendly carnival atmosphere. Oh, and male, female, whatever: the eye candy this year was mind-boggling. Truly. We stayed until they kicked us out after dawn.
