Sun City announces festive season line-up
A stellar line-up of shows, artists and entertainers has been confirmed for Summer Escape. Amongst the events are the evening pool parties at The Royal Baths (12 and 19 December); a drumming show by 1st Project (16 December); Carols by Candlelight (24 December); a concert by award-winning house band Mi Casa (26 December); New Year's Eve celebrations at venues across the resort; Tim Plewman's Defending the Caveman (1 and 2 January), and an outdoor show by AKA (2 January).
Sun City's vibrant bars and lounges, including the Luma Bar and Lounge at Cascades hotel, Harlequins at the Sun City Hotel, and Traders Sports Bar in the Entertainment Centre, will also feature free live entertainment on certain nights. The Brew Monkey will be open on Fridays and Saturdays until 10pm, featuring live entertainment. The brand new Legends restaurant at the Sun City Hotel and Casino will be open to guests and will also feature live entertainment on Friday and Saturday evenings.
Christmas Day promises to be something special for families with various activities and feasts taking place. The Cascades will stage a sumptuous Christmas luncheon with all the trimmings from 1.30pm to 4pm. The cost per head is R495 per adult and R175 per children aged 6 to 12. Children under five eat free. Booking is essential. The Sun Terrace at the Sun City Hotel will also host a Christmas Day lunch at R385 per adult and half price for children aged 6 to 12. Children under five eat for free. The Cabanas will host an Italian-themed Christmas Eve Dinner at R245 per person, a traditional Christmas Day Lunch at R320 per person and a Mediterranean-style Christmas Day Dinner at R245 per person. Prices include a welcome drink on arrival.
Kiddies can also look forward to a vibrant Christmas Day Parade and a fun-filled foam party on the Cabanas lawns between 10am and noon. The fun continues on the Day of Goodwill (26 December) with loads of activities to be enjoyed at Kamp Kwena on the Cabanas lawns from 11am to 3pm. Activities include a jumping castle, water slide, activity corner, face-painting, colouring-in, Lego, character appearances and loads more. The Cabanas' lawns annual Little Miss Kamp Kwena and Little Mr Muscles contests will take place from 3pm to 5pm for children between the ages of three and 12.
The Temple of Courage
The resort boasts a dazzling selection of restaurants, activities and two world-class golf courses all conveniently situated within one secure and beautiful location. The Valley of Waves is renowned for its wave pool and thrilling water slides. These include the Temple of Courage, two super-fast tube slides, two body slides as well as the new 50m tube slide.
There are also a variety of water sports including jet skiing, parasailing and water skiing, available at Waterworld at the Cabanas hotel lawns. In addition, the resort offers a choice of sparkling pools, two aviaries, jogging trails; quad biking; floodlit tennis courts, guided tours of the resort on zippy Segways, one of the world's longest zip slides, and the new outdoor adventure hub, Adrenalin Extreme.
Children can enjoy the adventure playground, an animal farm and a kiddies' mini race track at Sun City. Fun-filled, supervised workshops are hosted at Kamp Kwena twice a day. Activities include visits to the crocodile farm, musical games, arts and crafts, storytelling, adventures at The Maze of the Lost City, Bumper Boats and lots more.
