SA Masters Hockey Tournament to be held in Pietermaritzburg

The SA Masters Hockey Tournament will be hosted across several venues in Pietermaritzburg from 1 to 4 May 2013, and will provide the opportunity for 67 of South Africa's best hockey teams to showcase their skill and compete for the title of SA Masters.

The event's main field will be located at the University of KwaZulu-Natal, while other academic institutions, including The Wykham Collegiate and Maritzburg College, will also host matches. Over the years, this tournament has become a key fixture on the Masters Hockey calendar, encouraging intense competition and producing hockey of exceptionally high standards.

Chairman of the local organising committee, Joyce Smith, is "delighted with the support that the tournament has received from its sponsors", and is "particularly grateful to Time Freight having the vision that inspired this event".

Time Freight's support of this event is a reflection of its sport sponsorship policy, which recognises that the dedication and teamwork required to be a great athlete is similar to that required to run a successful business and deliver outstanding service.

A healthy, focused and balanced lifestyle

According to Etienne van Ravesteyn, the company's CEO: "Time Freight believes that sport and business go hand-in-hand to achieve a healthy, focused and balanced lifestyle," and that "sport and sporting role models contribute greatly to the community and influence the way people think and behave". With these sentiments in mind, Time Freight's sponsorship of the SA Masters Hockey Tournament could not be more fitting.

Alongside the sporting prowess that will be on show at the event, there will be many other facilities on hand to ensure that spectators and participants alike are well looked after. The tournament will feature a Chill Zone hosted by its official beer, Castle Lite, where food vendors will also cater to the crowds, while the players themselves will be kept refreshed by official water sponsors Aquelle. In order to provide the best possible care for the tournament's teams, there will also be an on-site physiotherapy marquee.

The tournament is set to be a truly nationwide event, drawing competitors from all around the country as well as Namibia and Zimbabwe.
