Transnet establishes Maritime School

Transnet announced that it will be launching a Maritime School in KwaZulu-Natal, with regional satellite centres in the Eastern Cape and Western Cape, focusing on the development of critical maritime skills for the country and the region. A number of trainee positions are currently available, with the focus on supporting Port and Terminal operations.

Applicants, Transnet says, must be South African citizens and be prepared to undergo pre-entry examinations and medicals. If successful, they will be placed on a training programme. It is anticipated that the starting date will be 14 January 2013. On completion of their training, trainees may have opportunities for placement into Operating Divisions in Durban, Port Elizabeth and Cape Town.

Candidates are sought for training positions as Marine Motormen Grade II, Chief Engineers and Skippers, Port Operations. Closing date for applications is 6 December 2012.
