Asara Wine Estate releases 2009 Cape Fusion Blend

Created with the belief that all uniquely South African Cape blends should be dominated by the Pinotage varietal for heritage, the 2009 Cape Fusion showcases expert and innovative blending to produce a wine that has become one of Asara's most popular Cape Fusions to date.

The cold winter of 2009 allowed for slow ripening of the grapes which enabled the complex fruit flavours to fully develop prior to harvest. Upon harvesting, the two main components, namely Pinotage and Cabernet Sauvignon, were blended and placed into French barrels to mature for several months. The oak contact adds a prominent backbone to the wine, which emphasises the fragrant coffee notes beautifully.

Cape Fusion 2009 combines dark fruit with roasted coffee aromas, and is elegantly structured with primary notes of plum and aniseed on the palate.
