Police leadership host strategic planning meeting
Police Minister, Nathi Mthethwa, Deputy Minister of Police, Makhotso Sotyu and the National Commissioner of Police, General Riah Phiyega, and all SAPS Station Commanders, Cluster Commanders, Provincial Commissioners and top management were part of the meeting which began in Boksburg on Friday.
The meeting, amongst other things, examined and audited the all-round performance of the SAPS, addressing issues such as partnerships with communities and many other operational frameworks.
The meeting was also expected to discuss, review and improve the various strategies and plans that are geared towards effective crime reduction.
Briefing media on the meeting on Friday, Mthethwa said the SAPS was being examined so that it can live up to expectations and improve on service delivery.
Phiyega said the SAPS were mindful that ensuring a conviction was a result of collective output.
"We must make sure that our part doesn't weaken the system. We do a lot of work ... to ensure that our contribution to that value chain system assist to achieve that collective output," she said.
