The International Insurance Conference will take place at the Sofitel Mauritius L'Imperial Resort and Spa. This year's conference themed "Extending the frontiers of Insurability in African Markets" has been aptly named as the insurance sector continues to implement strategies to improve insurance penetration which remains below 4% in the majority of African countries.

This year's conference seeks to explore ways to enhance financial inclusion on the African continent by creating new products and services as well as new distribution channels for changing market demographics and client demands.

Commenting on the conference, the OESAI Chairman, Charles Nakhoze said that the OESAI Management Board is honoured to be invited to hold this conference in Mauritius this year. He stated that is was critical for African insurers to continue to innovate and to evolve in order to keep up with their global counterparts and in the face of intense regional and international competition.

This year's conference is expected to attract more than 300 delegates from Africa and beyond. The increasingly popular OESAI conference is set to discuss contemporary topics ranging from policy and regulatory issues in the sector, Pandemics, Natural Catastrophes, Oil & Gas, Cyber Risks amongst others.

A number of insurance experts will be presenting papers at the conference which is expected to be a learning opportunity for insurance executives in the region. "This conference is a great opportunity to network and forge new business linkages with other insurance executives from around the world" said OESAI secretary General, Mrs Eunice Ndathi.

The conference is being organised by OESAI and the Mauritius Insurance community, led by Shiamdass Appannah, Managing director of Reinsurance Solutions.

"Delegates are in for a great learning and networking experience in Mauritius, and we are looking forward to hosting executives from the continent's insurance markets" said Appannah.
