Absa deal to help Numsa workers

Absa has set up what it calls "competitively priced and tailored" banking solutions for 270 000 members of the National Union of Metalworkers of South Africa (Numsa) according to an article published by Business Live.

Gavin Opperman, Absa Retail Bank chief executive says that the deal for Numsa will include an affordable housing package that would allow union members to own their own properties and use that as a base for wealth creation.

About 82% of union members fall into the "gap" market earning between R4 000 and R8 000 a month. It will also offer special deals on vehicle finance and personal loans to union members.

Business Live says that the financial offerings will be supported by literacy programmes for Numsa members.
