Save the date: 5 for Change to host black tie charity gala in CT

On Saturday, 30 May, 5 for Change will host its Fourth Annual Black Tie Charity Gala at the iconic Cape Town City Hall, bringing together over 500 of South Africa's most influential professionals and business people for a spectacular evening dedicated to making a difference in one of Africa's leading cities...

5 for Change is a non-profit platform dedicated to promoting organisations that are changing the way we give back. It was founded in 2012 by three young professionals who were inspired by the examples of black tie galas promoting social transformation abroad and who believed that Cape Town deserved its own black tie event.

Since its founding, 5 for Change has, together with the citizens of Cape Town, raised over R300,000 and connected the leaders of 15 inspiring social enterprises with over 1,500 professionals, entrepreneurs and business leaders. Co-founder Ross McKernan believes that 2015 will be another successful year: "We are proud to contribute to the growth of the social enterprise space, and we look forward to raising awareness about its impressive leaders in 2015."

Each year 5 for Change selects and showcases five social enterprises that are making a difference in the lives of others in unique and innovative ways, and this year's selected beneficiaries are no exception: "The Beyond Expectation Environmental Project, Generation Ubuntu, MyOwnCup, Read to Rise and Trade-Mark all exemplify the type of innovative social enterprises that 5 for Change aims to unearth and enable to reach a wider audience of socially conscious South Africans," comments co-founder Adriaan Dippenaar.

Guests on the night can expect welcome drinks, canapés and entertainment by leading SA musicians and enjoy being hosted by acclaimed SA comedian and GQ Best Dressed nominee Siv Ngesi, whilst bidding on prizes and items being auctioned by David Murray. Tickets go on sale for R400 on www.5forchange.co.za in early May.
