Entries for Retail Design and Development Awards close on Friday

Friday 17 June 2011 is the closing date for entries to the annual Retail Design and Development Awards (RDDA) 2011, sponsored by Nedbank Corporate Property Finance. This South African Council of Shopping Centres (SACSC) initiative looks for shopping centre and retail design excellence.

"Excellent design resolution, a clear overall development goal, responding positively to the environment and market, adopting innovative design and construction solutions and embracing sustainable design and business techniques all embodied in excellent retail design and development," says Amanda Stops, GM of the SACSC.

Entries are considered in four different categories including shopping centres both greater than and less than 20 000 sqm, the renovation or expansion of existing centres of all sizes and the store design of any shop or restaurant located in a shopping centre.

Stops notes that a panel of top judges, who are highly recognised and respected in their areas of expertise, will identify the leading entries within the retail design industry.

Entries for the RDDAs will be automatically entered into the 2011 Spectrum Awards. The gala event for the Spectrum Awards will be held in October in Gauteng and will host the announcement of the national RDDA winners across the four categories.

The Spectrum RDDA winner will be recognised on a national level for overall excellence in the industry.
