Entrepreneur competition closes soon
The 2010 Accenture-Enablis Business Launchpad Competition closes for entries on 31 January 2011. Founded by Accenture and Telesystem, in collaboration with the Canadian government, the Enablis Entrepreneurial Network is a non-profit organisation geared towards supporting entrepreneurial talent in developing economies and is driven by its professional network of entrepreneurs, governed by a sense of social sharing and networking. The competition will see the organisation and its partners scouring the country for small businesses with the most potential for growth.
Victor Mzimela, country manager of Enablis SA, explains that with as much as 30% of a country's GDP dependent on the small business market, this is not an area that should be taken for granted.
"Enablis started its activities in South Africa in 2004, in partnership with Accenture, Microsoft, FNB and Khula Enterprise Finance. It currently has over 1000 entrepreneur members in South Africa, Mozambique, Kenya, Tanzania, Ghana and Rwanda, with over 600 in South Africa.
"Our members join an entrepreneurial network and are immediately immersed in an ideas exchange where they can discuss, negotiate and clinch deals with other entrepreneurially-minded people. Our portal also incorporates members of the global Enablis family, ensuring exposure to businesses and trends as well as deals from all parts of the world."
It also assists entrepreneurs in capacity building, identifying areas in which they need improvement and then recommending workshops and training courses for them to attend.
"Our consulting and mentoring assists in supporting and helping small businesses to grow and thrive, and our ability to facilitate access to funding also supports this goal. We deliver all these services under one roof, supporting entrepreneurs from day one in their drive to grow successful businesses."
