Hearty hits Cape Town
During September 2009, Heart Awareness Month, the Heart and Stroke Foundation SA mascot, Hearty, in conjunction with Melomed, went on a heart health awareness road trip.
Hearty visited Cape Town-based Tembalethu Primary School, Goeie Hoop Primary School and Liesbeeck Primary School, creating awareness of cardiovascular disease and spreading the message of adopting a heart healthy lifestyle. Hearty and Melomed also promoted healthy eating by distributing fruit to all the children at the schools.
Hearty's work extended to a Crescent Sighting at Three Anchor Bay in Cape Town and a stop at the Cosmos VS Santos game on the 16 October at Newlands stadium.
