Cape Royale shares the love with Groote Schuur Newborns Trust
The Newborns Groote Schuur Trust exists to save the lives of tiny, fragile babies with the Neonatal team being at the forefront of specialist care for preterm babies. Love to Langa in turn is an American charity formed to support an AIDS orphanage in the Langa Township.
The money for the Newborns Groote Schuur Trust was raised through a combination of auctions, lucky draws and by 1800 Degrees restaurant donating part of the cost of every ticket sold. Apart from entertainment, the evening offered attendees a special five-course wine paired menu, an opportunity to bid on items up for auction such as helicopter flips, shark cage diving, romantic weekend getaways, and more.
Rey Franco, Food and Beverage Manager at the Cape Royale Luxury Hotel & Spa, says: "We had 60 people attending this worthy event and they all had an incredible time. It definitely wasn't your normal Valentine's and we're so pleased about the end result that we'll definitely host something similar next year. It was a great crowd and during these difficult economic times, we want to thank everyone who participated so generously and not only gave from their wallets, but their hearts too."
Commenting on the Robben Island visit, Love to Langa founder Amy Ostroff stated: "We're so grateful to have the support of Cape Royale Luxury Hotel & Spa. The children were very excited to visit part of their history for the very first time."
