Food aid needs reform
There are many fundamental problems with the way that the world community deals with the world's hungry.
There are many fundamental problems with the way the world deals with the 850 million people that go hungry. Often, funds for food crises are driven by media coverage and, as a result, can be too little too late. Most donors also tie their donations to conditions, reducing flexibility for those who deliver aid on the ground. And sometimes food aid is designed to benefit donor countries more than those in need.
This editorial in The Lancet suggests that food aid needs reform.
