Competition Commission delays healthcare inquiry report
The information sought is vital to the completion the HMI’s research, analysis and ability to make provisional findings, a statement from the Competition Commission said.
“Therefore, in light of such delays, the HMI is currently not in a position to publish its provisional report on the 5 August 2016, as indicated in the revised administrative timetable. Stakeholders will be advised as soon as possible of the new date of publication.”
The market inquiry was instigated to investigate so-called exorbitant costs and possible collusion in the private healthcare sector against the backdrop of government's plans to introduce a national health insurance scheme.
