Digital lifestyle more affordable, easier to access
Affordability has always represented a barrier to entry for those eager to immerse themselves in all that a digital lifestyle offers. The situation now is quite different, thanks largely to greater levels of development in technology and innovation, together with an increase in skills sets into the market.
It is encouraging to note that additional resources are being allocated to product research and development.
Significant price reduction
This, together with an increase in the number of service providers and the fierce competition for business, is contributing towards a significant reduction in the price of items. And this is particularly evident within the mobile and wireless market segment.
There was a time when a notebook or laptop was, for the most part, out of the financial reach of most people, save top enterprises or higher earning professionals.
The perception that mobile infrastructure could only really provide value within specific environments and under certain conditions deterred investors. This is no longer the case as more industries are taking up the invitation to rejuvenate their operations with an investment in mobile infrastructure for their workforces.
Technology is meant to add value to the lives of users as an instant, convenient and cost-effective medium for information dissemination and enhanced communication.
There is little sense in only being able to attract the business of the top end of the market when there is quite obviously a need for technology at entry-level and mid-market segments. Organisations need to diversify their offerings today to meet both segments needs.
Promotes productivity
In essence, the ability to compute and communicate from any point is convenient and promotes productivity at a lower total cost of ownership.
Mobile and wireless technologies that promote access and are able to bypass traditional boundaries such as travel restriction, location and access to resources have become the targets of tomorrow’s giants. Yet to deny the entry level market segments and opt for the top level business sectors only could mean business suicide for any solutions provider that desires to compete in today’s market place.
