    Bush skills for the boardroom

Learn how to survive in today's corporate environment with simple bush survival skills and knowledge offered by conservational experts at Shamwari Game Reserve.

The reserve, the World's Leading Safari and Game Reserve and Conservation Company 2008, has become a sought-after destination for corporate and incentive markets.

Situated near Port Elizabeth in a malaria-free region of South Africa, the reserve offers the business community a select range of packages ranging from the “behind the scenes” conservation experiences to the corporate game ranger school encounters.

The ‘behind the scenes' conservational experience allows business colleagues to work closely together to track wild animals in the reserve or to assist the experienced conservation team to release the Big 5 into the wild; there is simply no better approach to developing trust and teambuilding skills whilst supporting vital conservational efforts.

And, the ‘game ranger school' encounters allow high-powered delegates to undergo the life of a game ranger, to get a taste of the adventurous and exciting world of guiding. This is an incredible hands on ranging experience for business colleagues to embark on an excursion where they can gain knowledge on South Africa's wild and diverse fauna and flora, from game drives to walking safari's to astronomy night drives to camping out in the African bushveld.

Special guest speaker and renowned conservationist Quinton Coetzee is also available to share his survival skills knowledge. Quinton is a fascinating character, he was brought up in the Namib Desert, began his career as a hunter. After studying natural sciences and specialising in bush survival, he is now considered to be one of the leading bush-craft specialists in Southern Africa. As a conservationist, he has also managed the animal collection for one of the largest zoological gardens in Africa, where he was committed to the breeding of many endangered species worldwide.

Coetzee's 75-minute presentation demonstrates the striking comparisons between the fight for survival of a San Bushman and the equally cut-throat world of business. He powerfully leads audiences into the fascinating life of the tribe (the company), their bush environment (the marketplace), the wildlife on which they thrive (the clients) and the predators with which they compete (the competitors). Coetzee illustrates that there is much to be learned from the ‘simple' life of the San people. He presents an energetic and professional presentation crafted to inspire, motivate, enthral and above all drive home the reality of personal commitment and survival in the corporate world especially in tough economic times.

The reserve has a dedicated conference organiser to ensure a unique and ideal African safari experience, which will be captured by international wildlife filmmaker Lyndal Davies, a regular on international TV channel Animal Planet.
