Lindiwe Mahlangu is new CEO of Joburg Tourism
The JTC in a statement said Mahlangu has an impressive track record in the tourism sector having just stepped down as chief executive officer of municipal tourism body, Durban Africa.
Commenting on the appointment, Connie Molusi, JTC Chairman said, "We are very fortunate to have managed to secure someone of Lindiwe's stature to drive tourism growth in Johannesburg, particularly at a time when Johannesburg is gearing up for 2010.
“We believe her passion, dedication and experience in the sector will help maximise tourism and business growth and we look forward to welcoming her in March."
At her previous post at Durban Africa, she was actively involved in marketing the city as a preferred leading tourist destination both domestically and internationally.
She was also the programme owner and director for all Durban's tourism related initiatives including the 2010 tourism work-stream for Durban and during her tenure, largely responsible for reviving the Durban Convention Bureau.
Before taking over as the CEO of Durban Africa in October 2005, Mahlangu was the Head of the Business Support Unit of eThekweni Municipality where her responsibilities included providing strategic direction to the unit to ensure that it delivered quality and efficient services to small, micro and medium enterprises.
