Cell One signs with TelePassport Namibia

TelePassport Namibia, an associate company of South Africa's Huge Telecom, has concluded an agreement with Namibia's newest GSM operator, Cell One. The agreement will provide Namibian corporate clients the opportunity to save up to 40% on Cell One destined traffic originating from their companies.

“By introducing Least Cost Routing [LCR] focused packages, Cell One has added a new product to its corporate offering, and this gives more choice to our customers in Namibia's 13 regions,” says Dr Leake Hangala, Director of Corporate Strategy at Cell One. “Cell One's relationship with TelePassport Namibia will offer competitive rates to landline users when calling to the Cell One network,” he continues.

TelePassport Namibia have reportedly been the independent leaders of LCR in Namibia since 2005 and have been instrumental in introducing the concept of LCR to the corporate market. With the signing of the contract, voice calls destined to Cell One will be routed directly onto the Cell One network and will be charged as Cell One to Cell One calls.

TelePassport Namibia Managing Director, Phillip Stier said his company is proud to support Cell One through the provision of value added services that will enable Cell One to successfully approach the corporate market in Namibia.

“It also means that TelePassport Namibia are able to offer our clients more choice and access to a wider range of connectivity options,” says Stier, “which will ultimately lead to us being able to further drive down the cost of telecommunication in Namibia.”
