European Journalism Centre announces journalism grants

MAASTRICHT, THE NETHERLANDS: The European Journalism Centre (EJC) has announced that it has received financial support from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to advance journalistic coverage of issues related to global development and the United Nations' Millennium Development Goals. Therefore, in 2013 the EJC will implement a grants programme supported by the Gates Foundation.

Free handbook helps journalists use data to improve the news

MAASTRICHT, THE NETHERLANDS: The Data Journalism Handbook is a free, open-source book that aims to help journalists to use data to improve the news. It was launched on Saturday 28 April, at Italy's leading journalism event, the International Journalism Festival in Perugia, which attracts thousands of journalists from around the world for a week of talks and workshops.
