Add Hope feeds SOS Children's Villages

At the end of April 2013, KFC Add Hope, the CSI programme of KFC, donated a substantial cheque to SOS Children's Villages South Africa to feed the children that are in the NGO's care.

"The programme has been a partner to SOS Children's Villages for the past 23 years and we would like to take this opportunity to sincerely express our gratitude for its continued support," says Siphiwe Maphanga, national director of SOS Children's Villages South Africa.

"The role that the NGO plays is essential in the cause to rebuild broken lives with the aim of raising orphaned and vulnerable children in loving homes and environments. Our structure includes the incorporation of a housemother, which forms the backbone of what the programme does. We have the enormous task of motivating, encouraging, loving and supporting children that come from diverse and traumatic backgrounds to believe that anything is possible. It would however not be achievable without the generous support of companies such as KFC Add Hope and communities."

R27 million over four years

"KFC Add Hope is very excited about the renewal of funding for 2013 to continue the good work the organisation does by providing care to children who need it most. KFC Add Hope feeds all children at the eight SOS Children's Villages around South Africa to ensure that children have access to the nourishment they need in order to life, grow and thrive. This has been a successful partnership for many years and we look forward to more years working together," says Lauren Turnbull, CSI and sponsorships manager at KFC.

Since the introduction of the R2 menu item in KFC stores, consumers have given their support by contributing R27 million over the past four years. To date, Add Hope has raised R127 million towards hunger relief.
