The IIE Varsity College, Pietermaritzburg Campus has a vacancy for a sport and social coordinator. Duties and responsibilities:
Sport coordination
Manage the registration process of the VC Sports Club and ensure all students are provided the opportunity to participate in sporting activities on campus, pay the annual VC Sports Club fees
Manage the VC Sports Club for the Pietermaritzburg Campus and drive and monitor student participation across all sports clubs on campus
Ensure the VC Sports Club caters for students wanting to participate in either an individual and/or team
Design, manage and coordinate, together with the VC Sports Club administrators, the campus sports calendar of events/fixtures/practises/leagues both on and off campus
Recruitment, selection, and management of sports bursary students for all major Varsity College team sports clubs with the main focus being VC hockey and rugby clubs
Recruitment, selection, and management of the VC Sports Club administrators for each sports club on campus
Recruitment, selection, and management of the administrators for each sports club on campus
Manage the administration and growth of the VC hockey and/or rugby vlub. e.g. player management, facilities management etc.
Work with the VC Sports Club Committee to build the supporter base and social environment for these major sports clubs
Provide accurate reporting of all sports activities for the Pietermaritzburg Campus, within the time frames provided
Be accountable for all sporting equipment, playing kit and apparel owned by each campus' Sports Club and maintain strict stock control procedures
Manage all third-party relationships with regards to venues, leagues, and sponsorships
Manage and control the campus sports budget
Submit information and pictures of all Sports Club activities namely, matches, events etc. for all The IIE's Varsity College social media platform, press releases, website, and the VC App
Brand identity
Understand the Brand identity and ensure that it is consistently applied to all campus elements including posters, flyers and campus look and feel as well as to ensure that all campus communication is geared towards maintaining a positive brand reputation
Management of PR related service providers
Identifying and selecting campus service providers which will provide services for the PR portfolio.
This includes and is not limited to photographers, printers, sound technicians etc.
Brief campus photographer and liaise with other campus staff to ensure an even spread of sport, social, academic, cultural and community engagement events are effectively photographed
Manage the campus photography including supply to national office, press and online media.
Manage the registration process of the VC Sports Club and ensure all students are provided the opportunity to participate in sporting activities on campus, pay the annual VC Sports Club fees
General administration
Compiling annual and monthly events calendars
Compiling reports after major events
Managing the campus PR budget
Events management
Ensure the planning and implementation of comprehensive and balanced social, cultural and community engagement brand relevant events both on and off campus that will in turn positively impact on the marketing of the campus to prospective students
Provide accurate reporting of all social ,cultural and community engagement events within the time frames provided
Management of the internal advertising for all social, cultural and community engagement events
Build relationships with third parties to ensure access to practical venues for all events and to ensure sponsorship opportunities and prizes for all major campus events including CSI initiatives and fundraising events
Assist with national events as and when needed
Team support
Assist the head - student experience and student wellness manager (SWM) in running community engagement and awareness campaign events on and off campus. Alternatively, plan and implement community engagement and awareness campaigns where a campus does not have a SWM
Support the Academic Operations Centres of Excellence with events such as graduation
Offer support related to public relations to other departments that may need it, when requested by a senior manager
Social committee management
Recruitment and management of the social committee to encourage student participation to ensure students receive a full and well-rounded experience at The IIE's Varsity College
Oversee additional student committees

Minimum qualification requirements:
Three year degree or higher education diploma in either sport management and development or marketing or,
BA degree in corporate communications, or PR/marketing degree or diploma or equivalent
Minimum Work Experience Requirements:
Minimum of three years in any of the following: PR, events and community engagement, social media management, media writing and liaison
Managing diverse teams
Working hours:
Monday to Friday: 08:00-17:00- subject to position

Driver's licence and own vehicle essential
