Job title: Finance and insurance (F&I) manager
Location: East Rand
Department: Sales and finance
Reports to: Dealership manager/general manager

Job purpose:

The finance and insurance (F&I) manager is responsible for providing exceptional customer service while ensuring the smooth processing of finance and insurance transactions for the sale of second-hand vehicles. The role involves advising customers on financing options, insurance products, and warranties while ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements.

Key responsibilities:
  1. Customer service:
    • Assist customers in obtaining financing for vehicle purchases.
    • Provide detailed information about financing options, insurance products, and warranties.
    • Address customer inquiries and concerns regarding finance and insurance processes.
  2. Finance processing:
    • Process finance applications and obtain credit approvals.
    • Prepare and review all finance and insurance documentation.
    • Ensure accuracy and compliance with all financial regulations and dealership policies.
  3. Insurance and warranty:
    • Present and sell insurance products and extended warranties to customers.
    • Ensure customers understand the terms and conditions of their insurance and warranty packages.
    • Handle any claims or issues related to insurance and warranties.
  4. Regulatory compliance:
    • Stay updated on relevant legislation, regulations, and best practices.
    • Ensure all finance and insurance transactions comply with the Financial Advisory and Intermediary Services (FAIS) Act and other relevant South African regulations.
    • Maintain accurate records of all transactions and ensure confidentiality.
  5. Sales support:
    • Work closely with the sales team to ensure a seamless customer experience.
    • Provide training and support to sales staff on finance and insurance products.
    • Assist in achieving dealership sales targets through effective finance and insurance offerings.
  6. Reporting and administration:
    • Prepare regular reports on finance and insurance activities.
    • Manage and maintain accurate records of all finance and insurance transactions.
    • Ensure all administrative tasks are completed efficiently and accurately.
Qualifications and skills:
  • Matric (Grade 12) or equivalent.
  • NQF Level 4 FETC: Retail Insurance qualification.
  • FAIS and FICA compliance.
  • RE (Regulatory Exam) qualification.
  • Minimum of three years of experience in a finance and insurance role within the automotive industry.
  • Strong knowledge of vehicle finance, insurance products, and extended warranties.
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and dealership management software.
  • Valid driver’s licence.
