DTP Operator

• Translate the digital artwork from art directors and graphic designers into files that are ready to go to print.
• Use specialist computer software to make artwork ready for print.
• Using DTP software to produce a layout of the job both digital and hard copy and prepare proofs for approval.
• Working to a design brief from the client to make amendments to artwork when necessary.
• Fix formatting of jobs, such as the size and style of type, column width, spacing, checking of colours, etc. to match in-house printing specifications.
• Be able to prioritise a varied workload and work well under pressure and to strict deadlines.
• Have a clear understanding of print industry.
• Load artwork into relevant folders and follow current filing system.
• Determine layout and other instructions to identify the work to be done.
• Check final copy to make sure all is correct to print.
• Save artwork under code number where applicable.
• Only final artwork to be kept on the computer system, all previous artwork not in use or changes to be deleted.
• Check on proofing timelines.
• Systems to be backed up every Friday.
