Show profile Hide profileI have close to 3 years experience in labour law. I have been involved in chairing disciplinary hearings. This
has given me skills in applying my mind to facts and applying the law in order to determine the appropriate
outcome of a hearing. I represent clients at trade union meetings. This involves conducting verification
exercises with the union, its members and employer and determining the appropriate representation that the
union has in a particular workplace. I am also involved in any negotiations that take place between the union
and the employer and act as an advisor to the employer during this process.
My duties also include conducting first visits with new clients and current clients. This involves gathering
information from clients in order to draft the appropriate contracts for the clients. This process involves
studying the nature of the clients business and ascertaining whether the client belongs to a particular industry
and bargaining council. The client is advised in accordance with the industry that they belong to.
Furthermore, I am involved in implementation of contracts. I visit the client premises and explain contracts
to the staff before it is signed. Further to this, my duties include conducting general consults with clients in
order to assist them with any labour issues they may have.
I provide clients with telephonic advice regarding any labour issues that clients may have and draft
appropriate charges for disciplinary hearings. I am also involved in the consultation process during
retrenchments between the employer, employees and the union where necessary.
My academic achievements include an Undergraduate Degree in Bachelor of Arts, majoring in Legal Studies
and English. I then proceeded to complete my Bachelor of Laws. This was then followed by a course in
Practical Legal Training. My studies gave me an understanding of the law and enabled me to think critically
and apply the law.
I am confident that I will add value to legal advising work stream of the company. I also intend on
contributing to new business attraction and client retention for the company. At the center of my professional
activities will be realisation of company values and strategic objectives as well as teamwork.
