In 1997 I took up the position of Operations Manager for Regional Medical Aid Scheme where I was responsible for the overall management of the scheme including benefits, contributions, administration, service provider agreements and broker distribution. It was here that I obtained an in-depth and specialised knowledge of the medical aid scheme industry. Thereafter I established my own company called Medifin Group that later merged with Mentor Healthcare Planning. In June 2008, Mentor was acquired by Meritor Group Benefits, a subsidiary of the Genesis Capital Group. Meritor changed its name to Genesis Healthcare Consultants on 1 April 2009 under my leadership as the Managing Director.
I am recognised as a healthcare specialist in the industry and consult to significant employer groups on various issues such as employee assist/wellness programmes, organisation wellness programmes, occupational health, HIV policies and protocols. My speciality is developing healthcare strategies for large and small cap companies and improving the overall health of employees ensuring that employers realise a return on their investment for providing medical aid and other healthcare cover. I also consult in the retirement fund space with regards to pension and provident funds as well group risk and group funeral products and benefits.
I am regularly featured on various media platforms including radio and TV having recently featured on business TV channel Summit TV.
I am a member of the Institute of Directors of Southern Africa and the Financial Planning Institute and serve on the Board of Genesis Group Benefits (Pty) Ltd. as an Executive Director.
