Nwakanma is chief executive of Blueflower Limited, a strategic communication management firm. He had been Chief Executive of Taijo Wonukabe Limited; Export, Institutional Sales as well as Media Relations Manager at Cadbury Nigeria plc. He was also General Editor of BUSINESS magazine and regional correspondent (PH) covering the South South and South East for the defunct ThisWeek magazine.
A respected voice in Nigeria's communication circles, Nwakanma is President of the International Association of Business Communicators, Nigeria; President of the Public Relations Consultants Association of Nigeria (PRCAN), member of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, and the Chartered Institute of Public Relations UK as well as a registered practitioner in advertising.
His leadership has rejuvenated those two industry organisations, positioning PRCAN as an organisation of repute for companies in the public relations sector in Nigeria. With the innovative CEO Breakfast Forum, IABC Nigeria is also growing in relevance and membership.
Mr. Nwakanma is a resource person for workshops and enjoys imparting knowledge from his vast experience in the industry. He is a resource person at the School of Media & Communication, Pan Atlantic University.
Nwakanma was for many years Consulting Editor and facilitator for production of Nigeria Monthly, the official journal of Nigeria published by the Federal Ministry of Information and Communication.
Nwakanma was lead strategist for a team that revived two hitherto moribund state owned media organisations, The Tide in Port Harcourt, for the Rivers State Government and The Herald in Ilorin for the Kwara State Government. He has strong project management skills.
Nwakanma holds an Upper Honours BA in Mass Communication from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (1985) and Msc Sociology from the University of Lagos. He has also finished work on the Msc Media & Communication at Pan Atlantic University, Lagos.
