Ashton Steyn has 13 years of IT-related training and experience, and joined HP after the company acquired EDS in 2008. Ashton is currently chief technology officer and Agility Alliance executive for HP Enterprise Services in South Africa, and is responsible for providing strategic technological direction for new and existing clients within HP's Application and Infrastructure services portfolio.

Ashton joined EDS in 1999 through an EDS graduate programme and his operational experience over the last nine years involves data centre services and distributed systems. He completed the EDS Microsoft Top Gun programme in April 2005, enabling him to work with key technologies that were employed in many of EDS and now HP's top tier clients around the world. In July 2005, he was named EDS Chief Technology Officer for the Africa and Middle East regions. From April 2008, he has built and managed relationships with HP's Agility Alliance partners in South Africa.

Ashton holds an MBA from Wits University, Johannesburg specialising in Strategy and Innovation; the underlying theme of his research was on the value derived from green data centers. In his spare time, Ashton enjoys playing the piano, travelling to experience different cultures.
