    Focus on newspaper printing at World Publishing Expo

    PARIS, FRANCE / DARMSTADT, GERMANY: Newspaper printing technologies have developed fast in the past decade and offer more business opportunities and innovations than ever before - a good thing, since 2.5 billion people read newspapers on a regular basis. The World Association of Newspapers and News Publishers (WAN-IFRA) is offering a series of short conferences at the World Publishing Expo to help participants maximise the value of their printing operations.

    The three Power of Print Focus Sessions, to be held each day during the Expo, from 29 to 31 October, will present case studies on innovations in printing, selling print capacity, and on retrofitting and upgrading printing presses.

    The World Publishing Expo (IFRA Expo & Conferences), to be held in Frankfurt, Germany, is the world's largest global trade exhibition for the news publishing and media industry and a showcase for the technology to publish news in print, on tablets, mobile and online.

    More than 250 exhibitors from 30 countries will fill more than 9,000m² of exhibition space: newspaper pre-press, press and mailroom equipment manufacturers, alongside creative editorial and publishing system providers and more. Around 8,000 visitors are expected to attend during the three-day event, and there is still time to join them: Full details can be found at http://www.wan-ifra.org/expo2012

    The Power of Print speakers include:

    • Matthias Tietz, CEO of Rheinisch-Bergische Druckerei in Germany, on "Selling print capacity in a newspaper printing plant - aspects of change in corporate strategy and corporate culture";
    • Sanat Hazra, technical director at Bennett, Coleman & Co, India, publisher of The Times of India, on "Creating value for customers through innovation";
