    G-Mobile partners with Alliance Media

Malawi's third mobile phone service provider, G-Mobile, has entered a pact with Alliance Media, Malawi's largest airport and outdoor media company to install billboards across the country, in the run up to its launch.

South Africa-based Alliance Media marketing co-ordinator Megan Raitt told Bizcommunity.com that the billboard campaign is a teaser campaign in order to show the public that the network is about to launch, and that potential clients should wait to see the G-Mobile networks' offerings, before entering into contracts with other existing networks.

“The network is said to be state of the art and plans for the roll out are all on track,” said Raitt.

G-Mobile received its mobile phone service operating licence on Monday, 30 March, 2009 from the Malawi Communications Regulatory Authority (MACRA) as Globally Advanced Integrated Networks (GAIN) before Celtel changed to Zain.

The company was however forced to start using G-Mobile as its operating name to avoid confusion that would have ensued had they stuck to GAIN which sounds the same as Zain.
The company pledged to inject US$40m within the first five years into the operation.
