The firm plans to deliver its services by wireless internet technology like WIMAX, as well as through landline technologies to Ugandans. Currently, internet, voice and digital data customers get their solutions from Uganda's four telecommunication companies; MTN Uganda, Uganda Telecom, and Warid Telecom and other medium-sized Internet service providers like Infocom One2net and Iway Africa/Afsast.
“We'll provide competitive prices for our services with a wide network coverage and high bandwidth efficiency,” managing director Arvid Knutsen told journalists at a recent press gathering in Kampala.
The lowest internet package in Uganda costs UGX60,000 (US$30) and is offered by Uganda Telecom but comes with many limitations including time of use.
The Kololo-based firm is among the new firms that has entered the Ugandan market to tap into the high capacity and fast data speeds that will be extended to East Africa by three submarine cables underway in the region. Among these fibre-optic cables is Seacom which has extended its launch till August, TEAMS and the East African Submarines System (EASSy).
