Wayne Duvenage leaves Avis, remains at OUTA
Wayne Duvenage will leave Avis Rent a Car on 31 July 2012, after working there for 23 years, the past five as the CE. He will remain as chairperson of Opposition to Urban Tolling Alliance (OUTA) and aims to see this case through to the end.
He states that his resignation has nothing to do with his support of OUTA, adding, "I have decided it is time for a move and venture into new opportunities, a decision I have been contemplating for several months now.
"The Avis senior management and executive team have been extremely supportive of the role I have played in the e-Tolling matter and in no way was this a factor in my decision to resign. The decision to move on was my choice alone and my relationship with the Avis team remains extremely positive and strong.
"My immediate future will entail a continued and heightened focus on the e-Tolling case. Because the e-Tolling case is not a full time occupation of my time, I will be able to remain committed to this matter whilst also working on new business opportunities.
"We are at an important stage in our case to halt e-Tolling. Of late there has been much 'consultative' positioning on government's behalf. The reality is that nothing has changed, figures being bandied about are changing all the time and their 'user pays' principal being espoused is very flawed. We remain adamant that e-Tolling is a most irrational decision and must be stopped."
