Petrol to come down by 11 cents

Motorists have been given an early Christmas present in the form of a petrol price decrease.

All grades of petrol will come down by 11 cents next Wednesday, the Energy Department announced on Friday, 2 December.

The price of petrol, which currently costs R10.77 cents in Gauteng, will now cost R10.66 while a litre of petrol in the coast will set you back R10.36.

The price of a litre of Diesel 0.05% Sulphur will increase by 47 cents and Diesel 0.005% Sulphur is set to increase by 44 cents.

The wholesale price of illuminating paraffin will increase by 43 cents and the single maximum national retail price for illuminating paraffin will increase by 57 cents a litre.

The Maximum Retail Price for LPGAS will decrease by 41 cents.

"During the period under review, the average international product prices of Petrol decreased, whilst that of Diesel and Illuminating Paraffin increased," said the department.
